Inkjet personalization of credit cards certified

Saturday, 03 July, 2010 (Age: 64 days)

Mühlbauer card personalization systems ready for up to 30,000 UPH

So far inkjet printing on credit cards instead of embossing was not allowed. Now, VISA and AMEX certified this method for personalizing bank cards. Compared to the embossing process, inkjet printing is much more comfortable and efficient and thus, leads to a much higher productivity and a better cost per card ratio. Mühlbauer card personalization systems like the HSO 30000 or SCP 5600 are able to handle up to 30,000 UPH.

In addition, the flexibility for handling different cards rises enormously. No change-over of matrixes, the production of country-specific stamps and lamination is necessary any more. Downtimes are minimized. Beside this, an inkjet printing system is able to proceed barcodes, text and pictures onto the card surface within one process unit. The maximum resolution is 720 DPI.

An included turning station enables the machines to personalize the front and backside of cards in one process flow – and this across the complete card surface. Proven UV curing technology ensures a long durability of the print. For quality assurance a vision system is integrable.

Mühlbauer’s HSO 30000 and SCP 5600 are proven systems for inkjet card personalization. They are especially suitable for gift, loyalty and scratch-off cards, but nevertheless usable for health insurance and now, even for inkjet personalized credit cards.
