Blackbay enhances Expect delivery platform
Technology company Blackbay has further extended its ‘Expect’ track and trace platform by adding a consumer preference portal to improve the success rate of home deliveries. Blackbay’s Expect is a multi-faceted product that provides consumers with an interface to control, track and interact with deliveries and collections. The improvements mean that customers can now register a consumer preferences profile that will allow them to state their preferred neighbor, preferred safe place and the personalization of delivery names. These preferences can then be reused on future deliveries, regardless of the delivery company or e-retailer used.

Hameen Sanomat boosts logistics with Itella deal
Finnish media company Hameen Sanomat has reached an agreement with Itella to provide its online store with advanced logistics. The Hameen Sanomat store is based on a multi-vendor e-commerce model for three separate sites including Bellapuoti.com, Kalastamo.com and Dreampetstore.com. In addition to logistics services, Itella and its partner network offer online vendors help with marketing and segmentation. Near-term goals for the cooperation between Itella and Hameen Sanomat include expanding e-commerce services to cover cross-border trade, including to the St. Petersburg region in Russia and then later to the whole country.

Crisplant sorts new PostNord parcel terminal
Installation of an energy-efficient LS-4000E mail sortation system for PostNord’s new parcel terminal near Oslo has been announced by Crisplant.The sorter will be able to process 8,000 items per hour and will be used in conjunction with the Beumer Group software control suite. The entire system is designed to be easily upgradable should there be the need for higher capacity in the future. Known previously as Tollpost Globe, PostNord was the first parcel distribution company to commission the LS-4000E sorter when it was introduced to the market in 2009. The sorter’s Linear Synchronous Motor technology enables up to 75% reduction in energy consumption compared to sorters with conventional motor drives.

Australia Post partners with myGov for digital mailboxing
A partnership with the Australian Government Department of Human Services (DHS) and Australia Post has been formed to provide access to myGov documents via its MyPost Digital Mailbox offering (pictured left).There are over four million active myGov account holders registered with DHS. myGov is a service that allows Australians to access important government mail relating to child benefit, healthcare, disability and retirement schemes.
